Mathematics and Blindness: From Braille Tablets to EDICO Software

Teaching aids and methodologies for mathematics and science to blind students from preschool to secondary school

The methodologies and tools that enable blind people to study scientific subjects at various levels of education will be illustrated. The workshop is suitable for students of all ages, from preschool to high school, and is adapted in content and language. Numerous aids, such as the Romagnoli index card, the cubarithmo, and the rubber piano, will be displayed and explained. In particular, the EDICO software, which allows blind people to study scientific subjects and complete exercises with the aid of a personal computer, will be demonstrated.
