Genomics: the new frontier for studying the adaptation and conservation of populations and biodiversity.

Seminar – conference

Meet Mario Barbato, a researcher at the Department of Veterinary Sciences at the University of Messina. He specializes in bioinformatics and population genomics applied to livestock, with a particular interest in the domestication, adaptation, and conservation of local populations of small and large ruminants.
Understanding these phenomena is of general interest, given the close connection between human history and that of domestic species, and of particular interest to ensure the conservation of biodiversity, the efficiency of livestock production and, last but not least, the maintenance of the social and cultural value represented by local breeds.
In his speech: Bioinformatics and genomics in the adaptation and conservation of populations and
biodiversity, will highlight the potential of bioinformatics in relation to the issues of conservation and adaptation in different species.
