Claudia Caltagirone, from Cagliari, associate professor at the Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences of the University of Cagliari.

Special mention for the relevant scientific results achieved in the development of innovative artificial receptors and platforms for diagnosis and therapy in the field of nanomedicine and for having made its skills available to help overcome gender disparities in the scientific field and, in particular, in its research field. In fact, in 2019 she founded, together with other researchers, the Women in Supramolecular Chemistry (WISC) Network, through which to support women in the transition from PhD and post-doc positions towards an independent academic career.

WANGARI MUTA MAATHAI

[Ihithe, 1940 – Nairobi, 2011] Kenyan environmentalist and activist. In 2004 she was the first African woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. She was a Kenyan parliamentarian and Assistant Minister for Environment and Natural Resources in the government of President Mwai Kibaki, between January 2003 and November 2005.
