S’Universu a Bolu

Contixeddus po piticus e mannus po scoberri su mundu de sa fìsica de oi

Guest: Matteo Tuveri
Presented by: Arianna Steri

S’universu a bolu (with clear reference to the “poesia a bolu”, the improvised poetry of the cantadores, cultural heritage of the Sardinian oral tradition) is an informative journey into our universe to discover some of the most intriguing phenomena that distinguish it. It is a journey into an important piece of twentieth-century physics and contemporary physics, the one that starts with the scientific revolutions of quantum mechanics, Einstein’s special and general relativity and flows into particle physics and the world of astrophysics and cosmology. A book suitable for all ages, for adults and children: 30 informative stories to get in touch with today’s physics; 30 nursery rhymes to play with physics. Many anecdotes that establish the link between physics and Sardinia, with references to Sardinian oral culture scattered here and there among the verses and rhymes, such as the “dicius” or “contixeddus” typical of Marmilla and Campidano Regions. S’universu a bolu is also a “physical” glossary so as not to get lost even for a moment during a space journey that takes readers from the infinitely large to the infinitely small. Let a 14 billion year long story begin.
