\nThe problem of entities constituting reality, of primitive ontology, has been in central importance in physical theories from antiquity to today. The corpuscular and wave models of classical optics are presented, from the 1600s to the 1800s. We then analyze the emergence, in quantum physics, of the wave\/particle dualism. The various interpretations given to this problematic concept are discussed and analysed. Finally, the need to overcome the wave\/particle dualism through typically quantum entities is shown: bosons and fermions. <\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\nCarbon, a key element of living matter, has unique properties, including the ability to form a very large number of compounds (millions!) thanks to its peculiar characteristic of forming stable bonds with itself and with other light atoms. For this same reason, carbon has various allotropic forms, including diamond, graphite, fullerenes, nanotubes, which have extremely different properties.
\nCarbon is the basis, at least for now, of our energy consumption; it is the fundamental element of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, natural gas. The reserves known to date, the estimates of duration at current consumption and the consequent CO2 emissions with their contribution to global warming due to the greenhouse effect will be considered. <\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Eleonora Polo<\/b>, researcher at the ISOF Institute of the CNR in Bologna, with the book Once upon a time there was a polymer,<\/i> Apogeo Education 2013, ranked third in the National Prize for Scientific Dissemination\n2014.
\nHe recently published the books Neverland. Plastic in the oceans between myth and reality <\/i>, Dedalo 2020 and \u201cAn ocean of plastic<\/i>, Dedalo 2021.
\nThe media often speak of the so-called \"plastic islands\", six more or less vast areas in which, due to the effect of the currents, a large part of the floating debris is concentrated, mostly made up of plastic fragments. We will try to understand what these islands really look like and why they are not found on any nautical chart. \n The constant increase of CO2 in the atmosphere has determined the climatic consequences that we well know. Much is said about the problem, little about the solutions. Even if we could stop CO2 emissions now, the planet's temperature will continue to rise for a long time. And in reality we will still produce CO2 for decades, at least, pending a complete transition to renewable sources, and we will continue to produce even after that. Perhaps there is a way out. We must reverse course, not only reduce emissions but learn to capture CO2 and reuse it as a raw material, perhaps to produce fuel, this time clean and sustainable. By copying from nature, and learning to exploit the energy that comes to us from the sun. \n\n \n\n\n
It's not science fiction, it can be done. But first we must get to know this molecule, without which life on earth would not exist, and from which we all come. <\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\nWhat is the universe made of? This fascinating question is at the heart of one of the most important physics problems of our day. We must start from the fact that most of our Universe is unknown to us, we know only 5%. It may seem disheartening, but in reality this opens up enormous possibilities for scientific investigation. There is a real world to discover!
\nWe know, from numerous astrophysical evidences, that there is a large amount of non-luminous matter, what is called dark matter. In this conference we will start from the few certainties that we have on the subject, and then focus on the experiments that try to reveal dark matter. Visit to the most evocative rooms of the historic headquarters of the Mining Institute.

The hour of code and digital experiments<\/h3>

The Hour of Code is an initiative born in the United States in 2013 to give each student the opportunity to do at least one hour of programming. The activity shows how learning about systems and information technology is now an essential tool for better understanding today's society and the society of the future. During the activity, a moment will also be dedicated to digital simulated scientific experimentation.

Waste, a problem that becomes a resource and on the trail of Raw Material recovery and reuse processes of disused materials that would otherwise end up in landfills.
